The trilogy 'Poems from the Heart and Soul' is dedicated to Mairi Evans who was a beloved therapist. 'Poems from the Heart and Soul' is the first publication of my spiritual poetry. Extracts from the three volumes can be found here. The trilogy will be available by the end of 2022.
The first of the trilogy 'Poems from the Heart and Soul' contains a collection of poems and blessings written to Mairi Evans following her diagnosis of terminal cancer in 1996. These extracts from the preface serve here as an introduction:
'A few years after she became my therapist, Mairi was diagnosed with terminal cancer and ceased work. We stayed in touch throughout her three-year journey...I wrote regularly, enclosing poems and blessings that I had written for her. Shortly before Mairi died, she said to me, "You should publish your poems. Call them 'Poems from the Heart and Soul.' " Twenty-one years later, I am publishing this trilogy, 'Poems from the Heart and Soul' in honour of Mairi.'
‘The poems and blessings in this collection are arranged in the order in which they were written. The first section, 'Healing' covers a three-year period in my therapeutic journey with Mairi. 'Prayer' contains two prayer-poems written on hearing Mairi's diagnosis. 'Gifts' follows with poems written over the next two years, 'sending on' to Mairi the beauty I was encountering in my walks and imagination. 'Transitions' reflects our journey as Mairi's illness progressed. The poems in 'Letting go' were written in the months leading up to Mairi's death, and reflect the realisation that our final goodbye was approaching. The collection ends with 'And beyond...', poems and blessings written after Mairi's death. Love goes on.’
This is a very personal collection yet the themes and feelings that emerge in it are part of our human experience and belong to us all.

The second of the trilogy 'Poems from the Heart and Soul', 'In honour of Peace', contains a selection of poems on the themes of love and loss; pain and healing; conflict and peace. Due for publication by the end of 2022.
The third of the trilogy 'Poems from the Heart and Soul', 'In honour of God', contains a selection of poems on the themes of beauty and nature; ceremony and blessings; devotion. Due for publication by the end of 2022.
